  • Connectors for PLM 10.9.0 Now Available

    We are pleased to announce the Connectors for PLM 10.9.0 release, which addresses customer reported issues and includes a number of new features and platform support listed below.

    Connector 10.9 Enhancements

    • Enhancement to the Part BOM Property Mapping enables the Connector to map the CAD File properties to the Part BOM properties in Aras (CAD File – Part BOM).
    • Inventor and NX Connectors support generation of viewables for configurations.
    • SolidWorks Connector supports usage of global coordinate systems for assembling CAD models.
    • The Connector now supports exporting of the Property Mappings and Resource Settings as PDF, HTML or Text file.
    • Connector now allows the user to configure the type of the Compression to be used for the AML transactions.
    • Platform Support for AnyCAD: Inventor 2025.1 can support SolidWorks part and assembly up to version 2024; Inventor 2025.0 can support SolidWorks part and assembly up to version 2023.

    Important Note for Inventor Connector Customers

    Prior to the Connector 10.7 release, the Inventor Connector managed the design family links in Inventor with the Generic as the child: iMember -> iFactory. In the Connector 10.7 release, the Link direction changed. The Factory (Generic) is now the head of the relationship: iFactory -> iMember.

    This change affects only the Family Table management using Inventor iFactory and iMembers. There are no changes related to the Inventor Model States. This change in the Inventor Connector has been done to improve the management of iMembers. Customers currently managing the iFactory and iMembers should migrate their database when upgrading from an older version of the Connector to Connector 10.7 or later.

  • Connectors for PLM 10.8.0 Now Available

    We are pleased to announce the Connectors for PLM 10.8.0 release, which addresses customer reported issues and includes a number of new features and platform support listed below.

    Connector 10.8 Enhancements

    • New “Allow Branching of a Released Item” resource setting will allow the users to branch from a model that is in the Released state.
    • New “Manage Nested Instances” resource setting for the Creo Connector has been introduced to allow the administrator to optimize the nested family table management in different ways based on usage and requirements.
    • The Essig PLM BOM to CAD feature now supports the BOM to have native files from other CAD systems. Currently, the SolidWorks Connector could create a CAD model that contains both SolidWorks and Inventor Components and the Inventor Connector could create a CAD model that contains both Inventor and SolidWorks Components.
    • New “Connector Screen Permissions” feature allows administrators to control access to specific Connector features within the Aras client.
    • The Connector has optimized the size of the AML sent to Aras during inbound operations which improves performance when storing large hierarchies.
    • New Aras Innovator variable “ConnectorVersionPatch” will hold the patch version of the Connector and report an error if it finds an incompatibility between the Connector and the Connector Package installed in the server, based on the Patch version.

    • The Connector has been updated to include a Map Null value column to the Current Settings dialog.
    • The Inventor Connector enables management of Parameter Files as Non-CAD Files.
    • The Classification dialog now provides a filter search.
    • A new toolbar button with a caption “Create a Model” has been added to the Connector main toolbar / command bar in the CAD application. A dialog box will be displayed with the list of templates.
    • The Essig PLM BOM to CAD feature provides the ability to define a template file in the Part. If a template file is defined, then the Connector will use the template file to create a part / assembly, during the BOM to CAD execution.
    • Ability for the administrator to configure the Connector to use a dynamic Port Number by configuring ConnectorServicePortNumber Variable in Aras Innovator.

  • Connectors for PLM 10.6.0 Now Available

    We are pleased to announce the Connectors for PLM 10.6.0 release, which addresses customer reported issues and includes a number of new features and platform support listed below.

    • New Aras Innovator variable “ConnectorStoreTransformation” will store the transformation matrix as a property of the BOM Instance relationship.
    • New Aras Innovator variable “ConnectorInventorAllowEdit” will allow the user to make any in session changes without locking the model.
    • New xClass tab in the Hierarchy Explorer – Item Information pane displays the xProperties of the selected items.
    • AML queries used by the Connector have been optimized to include the specific property names instead of the wild card.
    • The Connector now allows users to retrieve multiple hierarchies in a single Retrieve operation.
    • The Connector will display the filtered list as an intended list, which makes easier to visually make selections in the cascaded list.
    • WebSocket has been introduced to communicate from Aras Innovator to the Connector.
    • Support of inactive Items in the Aras list.

  • Connectors for PLM 10.5 Now Available

    We are pleased to announce the Connectors for PLM 10.5 release, which addresses customer reported issues and includes a number of new features and platform support listed below.

    • New Feature “Essig PLM BOM to CAD” provides the ability to build an assembly in the CAD system through a Bill of Materials defined in Aras Innovator.
    • New “Automatically Continue to Store BOM” resource setting; when enabled, the Connector will continue to Store BOM after the Store Hierarchy operation.
    • New “BOM Quantity Driven By” resource setting provides a way to determine whether the BOM quantity is driven by the CAD application, Aras Innovator or the Part Item Unit of Measure.
    • New “Displayed Detailed Generation” resource setting; when enabled the Connector will indicate those items that deviate from the referenced generation.
    • New “Family Part Number Expression” resource setting is used to control the format of a family Part Number.
    • Enhancement to Retrieve Hierarchy to show the Current and Referenced Generation.
    • Enhancement to Property Mapping to support Part BOM Quantity.
    • New Connector Unregister and Re-register operations provide the ability to Unregister / Re-register a CAD Document or its configurations.
    • Enhancement to Search dialog allows adding xProperties associated to the Part items in the Column Chooser dialog.
    • File Overwrite dialog now includes the Column Chooser to display additional columns supported by the CAD Item Type.
    • Update to Register Rename operation provides the ability for the Connector to register the selected CAD Documents as a separate CAD Document and rename them.
    • Branch and Merge operations, currently available in the SolidWorks Connector, have been extended to the Inventor, Creo and NX Connectors allowing users to identify a CAD Part or Assembly file (source) and create related but independent branch designs.
    • Enhancement to the Branch tab in Aras Innovator will now display the branched items as well as the Source item of the CAD Document.
    • Enhancement to the Branch tab in the Connector now displays the “Branch Type” column.
    • SolidWorks Connector enhancement to Check Status dialog to include light weight models if they are part of the active model hierarchy.
    • View Info dialog now includes a Parts tab.
    • Enhancement to View Info and Search to include a Color Selection dialog.

    Essig PLM will be hosting a webinar on Wednesday, September 27th that will highlight the new Connector 10.5 features. In addition, several short videos demonstrating the following new features are available on YouTube.

    When upgrading from older Connector 10.x versions to 10.3, it was required to delete the UI registry key. This issue has been resolved and there is no need to delete the registry keys when upgrading to Connector 10.5.

  • Connectors for PLM 10.4 Now Available

    We are pleased to announce the Connectors for PLM 10.4 release, which addresses customer reported issues and includes new features and platform support listed below.

    • Support for SAML Authentication with Aras Innovator.
    • Enhancements to the Store BOM window include a new Changes dialog that displays what is changed in the BOM Parts within the BOM hierarchy.
    • Enhancement to the SolidWorks Connector Modified Copies dialog includes a new Remarks column that provides a visual cue informing the user if the file is really modified or just requires a rebuild.
    • The Connector now allows the user to specify a filter based on the xClassification to find files that are part of particular xClasses.
    • The View Info dialog now includes a new “Family Table” tab that allows users to view the complete family hierarchy of the selected model.
    • The Workspace Explorer has been enhanced to include a View Info dialog.
    • The Creo, NX and Inventor Connectors now use a separate set of icons to visually indicate family instances.
    • A new keyword Connector.Model_name has been introduced in the property mapping and this is applicable to the drawing documents and presentation in Inventor. This helps the administrator define a property mapping to map the file name of the model of a drawing property.

    Important Notes:

    We are pleased to announce the Connectors for PLM 10.3 release, which addresses customer reported issues and includes new features and platform support listed below.

    • The Connector now provides the ability to manage Non-CAD files in Aras.
    • New Connector API interface provides the ability to access the Aras Innovator session object programmatically.
    • UI improvements that include the display of the “Config Summary” column and column filter operators.
    • New support for xProperties. The Connector provides the ability to define both Forward and Backward property mapping to an xProperty and supports both Explicitly defined xProperties and the Extended Classification properties.
    • Connector event handlers have been extended to include a new OnBeforeStoreBOM pre-event as well as OnAfterRegisterItem, OnAfterStoreItem, OnAfterStoreBOM post-events.
    • Update to the Column positioning in the Property Mappings tab.
    • “Save-As” for SolidWorks Library files (Toolbox and Design Library) during the Copy Hierarchy operation.
    • “View Info” from the Generations and Where-Used tabs.
    • The Connector now allows the administrator to define if a null or empty property value should be mapped by the Connector during Forward and Backward mapping.
    • Copy Hierarchy now includes a Parts tab where users can view the associated Parts of the selected CAD documents.
    • A “Local File Generation” column has been added to the Overwrite Files dialog displayed during Retrieve Hierarchy.
    • Improvements to how the Connector manages multi-value lists.

    • Store BOM multiple root items will process the BOM for all of the configurations of the assembly
    • Store multiple root BOM drawings will store the BOM of all the items that are referenced in the drawing

    We are pleased to announce the release of SofTech Group Connector 7.0, which includes new platform support as well as a number of new features and enhancements listed below.

    • Property Mapping enhancements include the processing of “Method” keywords on all inbound operations and passing a full “CAD” or “Part” item type along with any custom parameters
    • Improved Missing Files warning dialog displays which file a missing component references
    • Availability of floating point decimal values for the quantity property
    • New “Do not version Part On Assignment” resource for cases when you would prefer the Connector make the Part-CAD link without revisioning the Part item residing in Aras
    • New “Assign Part numbers to All Configurations” resource will load the complete family hierarchy of all the generics; the part number assigned to the generic will then be assigned to all of the configurations (referenced or not)
